Welcome to Oakfields Health Centre

We provide a wide range of primary health care services under one roof from our new, purpose built premises in Hamsterley Colliery.

As the practice grows, we will continue to provide the same friendly, welcoming and efficient service that our patients have come to expect from the practice team.

We welcome all new patients, who live within our practice boundaries. If you would like to register at Oakfields Health Centre please ask at reception for details of what you need to do.

The practice moved into new premises in April 2008, after serving the patients of the local area for over 70 years from Oakfields House in Low Westwood. The new building is purpose-built and easily accessed by all patients or visitors, including those with limited mobility. There is ample car parking on site and space to park bicycles securely.

The popularity of the practice is growing steadily with new patients joining the list each week. In January 2011 3,300 patients were registered at the practice and numbers are expected to continue to increase further.

In addition to doctor and nurse-led clinics we offer a wide range of additional services provided by visiting staff. These include ante-natal clinic, dietetics, physiotherapy, podiatry, counselling, children’s services (health visitor). All the professionals work together closely to make sure we provide a personal service with continuity of care across the extended team.

A personal service offering choice and continuity of care

We aim to provide patients with a choice of health care professional. We have a male doctor and a female doctor, supported by a team of nurses and a health care assistant. Each member of our team has a particular area of expertise or special interest and you have the right to ask to see the practitioner of your choice. Please respect the fact that you may have to wait longer to see the doctor of your choice.

Please click HERE for information about clinics and services for more details about who might be the most appropriate person to see for any particular problem.
